STADIA
CHANIA STADIUM
What makes a feasible, contextually appropriate and affordable stadium to add on and improve the waning football and rugby leagues in Kenya? This exercise experiments with simple and contextually appropriate ideas for low cost stadia in Thika, Kenya. A 7,000 seater stadia on an empty lot in close proximity to town's CBD, which taps into the town's public transit lines by providing a large plaza adjacent to Garissa Rd. (The main transport axis into the town), parking, commercial and recreative spaces to ensure future commercial viability of the grounds.

JAMUHURI STADIUM
Jamuhuri Telkom Grounds have for ages been the prime ground for sporting activities for the the community around Kibera, Jamuhuri and Suna areas of Nairobi. The site's prime location warrants for a mid-sized arena that should be well suited to host both high profile football and rugby games. The area's close proximity to Kenya's rugby home makes it such that the region can serve as Nairobi's primary sporting area. The scheme aims to propose for a 15,000 seater football and rugby specific stadium with a distinctive inverted pyramid silhouette abstracted from an African crown to signify the prestige that sports bring to the country. The scheme also aims to tap into the local transport networks along Ngong road and the Kibera commuter rain adjacent to the site.
